Policies and FAQs
What to Wear
Rec Classes: Female gymnasts may wear a leotard with briefs or bike shorts over. They may also wear shorts or stretch pants and a form fitting t-shirt. Shorts/pants need to have elasticized waists (no buttons, snaps or zippers). No shoes or socks are to be worn for they are safety hazards on the gym equipment. Hair should be pulled back off of the face, and jewelry of any type should not be worn (stud earrings are acceptable). Tumbling for Cheer students should wear shoes appropriate for tumbling or go barefoot.
Team: Appropriate gymnastics attire should be worn for all practices. Gymnasts must be dressed in a leotard for practice, with their hair up neatly. Gymnasts are not to practice in sports bras and briefs only, or to roll their leotard down to the waist. Long sleeve leotards may be worn.
*We are NOT responsible for any personal belongings that are brought to the gym! Please, keep things of value at home.
Payment Policies
A credit or debit card on file is REQUIRED to register for classes. All tuition is DUE BEFORE THE 25th of each month (for the next month) and can be paid by cash, check, debit, or credit card. If tuition is not paid before the 25th of the month and a drop request has not been submitted via the parent portal, all unpaid balances will be charged to your card on file. In order to drop and not be charged for the following month’s tuition, you MUST submit a drop request via the parent portal online. Once tuition is charged on the 25th, there are NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS and your child is enrolled for that class for the next month. If your payment doesn’t go through for any reason, you will be charged a $15.00 fee. If delinquent tuition is not paid before the first of the month, your child will be tagged inactive by the computer, will be un-enrolled, and children on the waiting list will be called. All returned checks will carry a fee of $35.00. Once we have taken a bad check, all future tuition must be paid by cash or debit/credit card. Delinquent accounts may be referred for collection.
We accept the following forms of payment: Visa, MasterCard, or Discover
Absences and Make-Ups
Rec Classes: Make-ups are NOT guaranteed. We will try to schedule make-ups in another class of the same level if you are out sick or out of town. You MUST schedule your make-up through the front desk. Drop-ins are NOT allowed!
We ask you schedule your make-up within 30 days of the missed class.
Our make-up policy is due to the fact that we always want SAFETY to be our NUMBER ONE priority here at Defying Gravity Activity Center. We have strict ratios for all of our classes; therefore, if classes are FULL, we can NOT allow any other students in the class. In addition, when children are in a different class, it can be a distraction to the normal flow of the class. We ONLY Allow 1 make-up in any class at any time. Please, do NOT ASK our coaches/instructors to bend this rule, for you are then causing a safety hazard! Again, ALL MAKE-UPS MUST BE SCHEDULED THROUGH THE FRONT DESK. During flu season, we might make exceptions, especially if you have a doctor’s note!
Tuition is based on a 4-week month. Due to many months having 5 weeks, we DO NOT pro-rate our classes. If we are closed for holidays or any other events throughout the year, we do not offer make-ups. The extra week in the months with 5 weeks is your make-up class. In turn, we do not charge more when there are 5 weeks in a month nor do we cancel the 5th class. Unlike other gyms, we charge monthly not every 4 weeks.
No make-ups will be allowed if you have a balance owed to Defying Gravity Activity Center.
NO MAKE-UPS for our Recreational Teams!
Team: There are NO make-ups for missed practices, please make every effort to be at practice!!!
*** Please make every effort to attend your regularly scheduled class and arrive on time in order for your child to receive the most benefit from their gymnastics experience. You will be more likely to see growth and improvement with consistent attendance.
Drop Policies
Rec Classes: You are REQUIRED to drop your class via the parent portal system to withdraw from Defying Gravity Activity Center. You MUST submit the drop request PRIOR to the 24th of the previous month in order to not be charged for the next month. We will hold your space in a class and charge your account until YOU tell us otherwise. You will be responsible for the following month’s tuition if your request is given after the 24th of the month. FOR EXAMPLE, if you submit a drop request on January 5th, you are still responsible to pay for January. Your child will be dropped from their class on January 31st, and you will NOT be charged for February. If you submit a drop request on JANUARY 25th, YOU WILL BE charged for FEBRUARY’S tuition.
Your child will then be dropped from class on February 28th. We will hold your space in the class until you inform Defying Gravity Activity Center, via a drop request in the parent portal, of plans to stop attending. Unless you provide us with a drop request, you are taking a spot in a class; therefore, you are responsible for tuition payment. If your child is absent from a class for 4 consecutive weeks and we have NOT heard from you, we will then drop him/her from his/her class. You will still be responsible for any tuition fees that accrued within those 4 weeks, and we do NOT prorate for NO SHOWS!
Please notify the front desk and NOT the coach, if you are planning to discontinue your enrollment at Defying Gravity Activity Center. You are not “dropped“ unless you receive a notification from the office staff, and you WILL BE responsible for any tuition fees charged while we hold your space in any class(es). There will be NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS given if the above drop policy procedure is not followed.
Team: One (1) month WRITTEN NOTICE (drop submissions are available through the portal system for you to submit) of plans to leave the team program is required. Financial obligation to Defying Gravity Activity Center will continue for 1 month after written notice is received, or as long as an outstanding balance exists. We accept the following forms of payment: Visa, MasterCard, or Discover
Inclement Weather
If Cobb County Schools close due to inclement weather, Defying Gravity Activity Center will most likely be closed, but please check for emails, our website, and Facebook page, for we all know sometimes the schools close unnecessarily. We do all we can do to keep classes as normal in order to keep the children progressing. Management will consider road conditions, etc., and we will decide if we will be open for classes and practices. We will send an email as soon as a decision is made by our management. We will post on our website and Facebook page as well.
The BEST way to get the most recent updates or changes due to weather is through our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/defyinggravityac).
We have an outside source that updates our website. We will do our best to update our website (defyinggravityac.com).
If Rec Classes are canceled, we will TRY to schedule a make-up but we can NOT guarantee one will be scheduled for we can’t control the weather. We do apologize, but make-up classes are NEVER GUARANTEED. We cannot allow make-ups for inclement weather in other classes. We are limited on the space for make-ups (for safety reasons); therefore, our priority is to reserve all make-up spots in classes for athletes that miss due to personal reasons.
